Why would you buy this Biodiesel processor ?
Water washing remains the most reliable way of removing the impurities that remain in the Ester Phase (Biodiesel) after the reaction that can damage vehicles engines.
Will it make EN 14214 Biodiesel ?
It will help you to make this if you have sufficient oil preparation and very good reaction procedure and equipment. You do not have to fuel to the EN14214 in order to make good fuel. The standard was designed for Biodiesel made with new oil which is very different to used oil, so in a way it is an unfair comparison. Goldenfuels has been making Biodiesel for 5 years and we supply hundreds of motorists in the south of England with out any problems to vehicles caused by the Biodiesel.
Dry washing seems easier?
Dry washing can be suited to certain commercial situations where Methanol recovery is in place prior to the dry wash stage. They have been know to release the excess of methanol back into the fuel as space is given up in the medium for other impurities.
Also is more expensive than water and the remnants are sent to land fill along with the embodied energy of the product. Water is greener.
What happens to the used wash water?
We recommend that you drain the wash water into a separate barrel to let any fuel settle out that can be re-introduced to the system later. The other purpose of this extra tank ( or large bucket ) is so that you can adjust the Ph to neutral if needed with distilled vinegar.
What about the excess methanol you mentioned?
The excess of methanol is carried off into the water along with the other soaps and impurities. These are drained off to the same water treatment works that all water is treated at. The slight methanol contamination aides the anaerobic digestion at the sewerage works and the rest of the impurities have a similar constitution to dirty bath water.
