Sorry folks, another price rise has been forced upon us. We’re competing hard for waste oil and all other costs have risen, however the main reason is that we’ve finally reached the VAT threshold and are in the process of registering. So for business customers our fuel will actually be cheaper…sorry if that’s no solace. We’re still a lot cheaper than mineral diesel and much much greener. We’ve tried hard to stave off price increases but we can’t fight VAT. The Government’s supposed support for biofuels in the form of the RTFO is also designed in such a way that it probably won’t yield us a penny…on the other hand it provides a 15p/litre subsidy for biodiesel made from palm oil, shipped to the USA (where it gets an 11p US subsidy) and then shipped to the UK. How reassuring!
But there is some good news: a big welcome to Brian, our new member. Brian is a founder of Bolton Alternative Fuels Co-op and has joined Richard, Adam and Dan at our plant.
